A solution for lack of funding and training for person-centred care
Published today, a book by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation entitled 'Supporting people - Towards a person centred approach' identified, among other factors, inadequate training, as a barrier to providing person-centred care in the community and in residential care.
Skills4Learning are working towards overcoming the problems identified by the authors and have introduced a range of low-cost, high-value online courses specifically targeted at people working in the care sector. Initially the courses are directed towards Foster Carers but there are already general course suitable for anyone working with children, or vulnerable adults. Course start at just £25 and all are set up to CWDC standards.
Skills4 Learning continue to offer Face-to-Face courses and where a care provider is able to gather a group of care workers for training, this continues to be the most economical and satisfactory arrangement for training, however where one carer has missed a session or carers are on shift work, the Skills4Learning online package is a perfect solution.
